“Nobody marries flamenco and jazz as smoothly…” – NPR
The classic 1959 Miles Davis album, Kind of Blue, is hailed by many critics to be the greatest recording in jazz history. It is certainly the most popular, with over four million units sold. One of the its most haunting tracks is “Flamenco Sketches” and so it is fitting that Spanish flamenco jazz pianist Chano Domínguez provides a fresh take on the Davis masterpiece with his upcoming Blue Note record, Flamenco Sketches. While already a star in his homeland, Domínguez won an international following with his appearance in Calle 54, the award-winning 2000 documentary about Latin jazz. Domínguez brings his unique flamenco jazz approach to Kuumbwa for a stunning evening not to be missed.
