This class gives you basic drumming skills, the language of rhythm and a knowledge base of drumming culture, while teaching music of the African Diaspora. In an ensemble setting, you’ll learn binary and tertiary rhythmic forms using pulse and clave as a foundation. The material includes drum and percussion technique, songs, folklore and community resources. Drums provided or bring your own.
