Rancho del Oso Wildflower Weekend

There’s always something blooming in the Waddell Valley, especially in springtime--Come see wildflowers on display in the Nature and History Center and visit them on the park's trails during the Rancho del Oso Annual Wildflower Weekend, Saturday, April 28 and Sunday, April 29 from 12noon to 4:00p.m.

You’ll see buttercups, shooting stars and western wake robin included in this annual exhibit of over fifty native plants in flower and several non-native species found in the western portion of Big Basin Redwoods State Park. The assortment of shapes, sizes, colors and forms can be studied on display so you can recognize the bounty of blooms seen on a hike in the park. The flowers represent a variety of habitats, and are clearly labeled with common and Latin names.  Guided hikes open to all ages are offered at 1pm and 3pm each day. On Sunday at 2:00pm, a flower-talk is also on schedule.

The park is located 17 miles north of Santa Cruz on Highway One. Turn right just before the Waddell Creek Bridge at the sign for Rancho Del Oso Nature and History Center. From Half Moon Bay take Highway One south 30 miles. This event is free. More information is available at (831) 427-2288.
