Six Wheel Drive improvisational theater troupe will perform one full-length (90-minute) play on April 2. The play will be fully improvised; everything is made up on the spot, with the help of an audience suggestion.
Six Wheel Drive utilizes archetypal characters in its plotline, and no two plays are alike. From drama to science fiction, romance to murder, anything might happen in a Six Wheel Drive performance.
Long-form improv is very different from short-form improv, in that it involves creating multiple scenes that are woven together to form one cohesive play. Six Wheel Drive troupe members must keep track of all characters and names, play multiple characters, and create a plot and story arc.
Troupe members are Santa Cruzans John Brewer, Jennifer Cass, Helen Del Toro, Raphael Hebert and Karen Menehan. Members' bios are online at www.sixwheeldriveimprov.com.
Formed in 2006, Six Wheel Drive has performs improvised plays four to five times per year at the Broadway Playhouse and in the Santa Cruz Improv Fest and Improvathon.
Performance appropriate for ages 16 and older.
