
The Cabrillo Symphonic Chorus, under the direction of Cheryl Anderson, presents Paul Hindemith’s masterpiece, When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom’d, on Friday, July 22nd, 7:30 PM at Santa Cruz’s First Congregational Church. When Lilacs Last on the Dooryard Bloom’d is the musical setting of Walt Whitman’s elegy on the death of Abraham Lincoln. Hindemith’s epic composition was commissioned by the great Robert Shaw to mark the death of Theodore Roosevelt. It features large chorus, orchestra and soloists Layna Chinakas and Steve Berlanga.
