Fatal Santa Cruz Blaze Injures Two
A fire that broke out in Santa Cruz early Wednesday morning left one dead and injured two, including a firefighter.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — A fire that broke out early Wednesday morning at a building that is part of the Santa Cruz County Jail complex left one dead, city officials said. Two people were injured in the smoky fire, including a firefighter, authorities said.
The fire broke out around 3 a.m. at 265 Water St., where the street remained closed most of Wednesday. The firefighter was transported to Dominican Hospital and was in stable condition, according to KSBW.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
