Fishhook In Santa Cruz Closing Overnight Starting June 12
The road work will also force alternating lane closures on Highway 17 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
SANTA CRUZ, CA — Motorists who travel Fishhook in Santa Cruz should expect delays starting Wednesday night as Caltrans crews begin bridge railing replacement. Fishhook connector ramps will be completely shut down both Wednesday and Thursday night this week. Overnight closures will then resume again Monday June 17 through Thursday June 20. The hours for all the shutdowns are 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. on the southbound side, and 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on the southbound side. Detours will be provided via orange construction signs.•
There will also be alternating lane closures on Highway 17 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on the same six nights as mentioned above.
The project is part of the resurfacing work on Highway 1, from the North Aptos undercrossing to the junction with State Route 9, that began June 3. The project will include upgrades to Americans With Disabilities Ramps bridge rail replacement at the Fishhook and Ocean Street bridges, improvements to electrical systems, bridge deck treatments and the replacement of concrete barriers; it’s scheduled to complete by the end of 2020, according to Caltrans.
