K-9 Likely Scares Off Prowler, Police Say

Officers noticed handprints on a building's open window. K-9 Ryder investigated.

SANTA CRUZ, CA β€” Santa Cruz Police believe officers and K-9 Ryder scared off a prowler who entered through an open window in a building in the 400 block of Frederick Street this weekend.

Police first saw handprints on the outside of an open window and investigated. They cleared the building but found nothing.

Police remind the community to turn outside lights on, remove valuables from cars, and lock cars, garages, doors, windows and sheds.
