COVID-19 Outbreak at Live Oak Assisted Living Facility Sickens 24
An outbreak at a local assisted living had sickened 14 residents and 10 staff members, as of Friday afternoon.
LIVE OAK, CA — A COVID-19 outbreak at Live Oak assisted living facility Maple House II had sickened 14 residents and 10 staff members as of Friday afternoon, according to the county.
That's up from 11 residents and 9 staff members as of Wednesday, KSBW reported. The county began widespread testing at Maple House II after an employee tested positive for the coronavirus Oct. 31, the station reported.
The outbreak at Maple House II is the second outbreak at a Santa Cruz County facility. The facility did not respond to a request for comment from Patch.

An outbreak at skilled nursing facility Watsonville Post Acute sickened 50 residents and 21 staff, and resulted in 15 deaths, county Health Officer Gail Newel previously said. No positive cases have been reported in the past four weeks and the facility may now accept new patients after getting its COVID-19 outbreak under control.
There have been a total of 3,356 COVID-19 cases reported since the beginning of the pandemic, including 26 associated deaths, as of Friday.
