Man, 18, Shot In Head At Watsonville Intersection, Dies Sunday Night
The victim was found slumped over his steering wheel Sunday afternoon.

An 18-year-old shot in the head Sunday at an intersection in Watsonville has died, police said. Watsonville police Sgt. Eric Montalbo said the death is being investigated as a homicide.
Police responded Sunday at 2:14 p.m. to a report of a shooting at the intersection of Maple and Marchant streets where officers found the victim, a Watsonville resident, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
Montalbo said the victim was slumped over the wheel of his vehicle.

The vehicle had been driven partly onto a sidewalk. The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition and was on life support at a Bay Area trauma center until he succumbed to his injuries Sunday night.
Officers were able to obtain general descriptions of the shooting suspects and their vehicle and notified other law enforcement agencies in the Santa Cruz County area, but the suspects were not located, Montalbo said.

Police are searching for three suspects in a gray truck. Montalbo also said several police detectives are following leads in the case and are seeking a potential witness to the shooting who was driving a white vehicle similar to a Chevrolet Equinox but who has not come forward.
Police said the victim’s identity is not being released until his next of kin has been notified.
