Man Apparently Caught Breaking Into A Truck Toolbox, Police Say

Santa Cruz police officers arrested the man in a hotel parking lot.

SANTA CRUZ, CA β€” Santa Cruz Police officers say they've arrested a Santa Cruz man who appeared to be breaking into a truck's toolboxes.

Officers have conducted additional patrols amid the shelter-in-place order and happened upon Samuel Kay, 31, in a hotel parking garage Monday night, police said.

Police said they arrested him on suspicion of possessing burglary tools, vehicle tampering and violating the shelter-in-place order.
