Reproductive Anatomy and Physiology Series

Basic Anatomy and Physiology of Female Bodies for Ages 12 to 17 followed by Ages 18+

Join us for this comprehensive and inclusive workshop series led by Dr. Megan McNamara, instructor in the Sociology Department and an affiliate with the Center for Innovations in Teaching and Learning and the Institute for Social Transformation at UCSC. The first event in the series is geared to teens ages 12-17, who are encouraged to come with their friends, their parents, or just by themselves. The event takes place from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on October 5th at the Capitola Branch Library.

This is a wonderful opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the sexual and reproductive body in a supportive and educational environment. In Session 1, we will focus on the basic anatomy and physiology of the female body, which is incredibly complex. This session provides a comprehensive understanding of its structures and functions and will present the material in a manner that is accessible and suitable for ages 12 to 17. Participants will have the opportunity to learn, ask questions, and gain valuable knowledge about their bodies. Adults ages 18+ will have the opportunity to participate in a similar program aimed at adults the following Thursday October 12. After that, the series continues for all teens and adults aged 12+ on the first Thursday of November with "The Amazing Menstrual Cycle" and the first Thursday of December with "Contraceptives and Their Options". All events begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Capitola Library.
