Man Shot Dead As He Cleans Up Yard After Child's Birthday Party In Salinas
The 29-year-old stepped into the front yard on Elton Place early this morning when shot multiple times, police said. [Breaking]

MONTEREY COUNTY, CA – A man is dead after a shooting outside a child's birthday party in Salinas early this morning, according to police.
Police said officers were dispatched around 1:30 a.m. to a residence in the 700 block of Elton Place on reports of several shots fired.
Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, and he was later pronounced dead by medical personnel.

According to police, the victim had been at a child's birthday party and stepped into the front yard to assist with clean up, when shots rang out.
The 29-year-old victim was found alone in the front yard, with no suspect description.

Police said a vehicle may have been leaving the area at the time of the shooting, but it was unclear if that vehicle was involved in the shooting.
According to police, the events of this shooting mirror the circumstances surrounding a fatal shooting that occurred Friday. The shooting appears to be gang-related however neither victim appeared to be a gang
member.

The identity of the victim is being withheld until the next of kin has been notified.
