SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA – A 15-year-old male was arrested Thursday as the suspect in the fatal shooting earlier this month of a man outside apartments in the Live Oak-Soquel area, officials said.
The teen was already in custody at Santa Cruz County Juvenile Hall for an April 9 probation violation, the Santa Cruz Sheriff's Office said.
Thursday's arrest was made in connection with the April 8 shooting of 26-year-old Ivan Villalobos as he sat with a friend in the common area of the Emerald Bay Apartments at 2500 Soquel Drive. Deputies responded to the incident at 10 p.m., and Villalobos died at the scene, the agency said.
