Santa Cruz City Schools Closed Until April 13

The decision came after Santa Cruz County issued a stay in place order Monday.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — Santa Cruz City Schools and districts throughout the county have extended closure plans due to concerns about the new coronavirus. Schools will be closed through Friday, April 10 and could reopen Monday, April 13.

The decision came after Santa Cruz County issued Monday a shelter in place order for the entire county until April 7, calling on the public to stay at home unless they are receiving essential services or purchasing essential goods.

Nine cases of the virus have been confirmed in Santa Cruz County as of Monday. The county is considered to have community spread, since public health officials are unsure of how some patients became infected.
