Santa Cruz County Nail Salons And More Can Reopen Friday

Santa Cruz County announced a slew of other personal care businesses have been given the all-clear to reopen Friday.

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — Santa Cruz County is cleared to allow personal care services such as nail salons, estheticians, skin care professionals, massage therapy facilities and more to resume services Friday.

California will also allow local electrologists, cosmetologists, permanent makeup artists, waxing professionals, tattoo artists and piercers to resume, the county announced in a news release.

The state issued guidance for reopening such services amid the coronavirus pandemic on Friday.

Santa Cruz County has already permitted hair salons and barbershops to reopen, under certain restrictions.

Last week the county allowed the reopening of hotels, bars, fitness centers, pools, tasting rooms, campgrounds, museums, galleries, aquariums and more, though beach closures from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. were extended. Restaurants and in-store retail have also been permitted to reopen, under certain restrictions.

The changes come just in time for summer, a busy season for the tourism industry.

The county reminds the public to wear face coverings in public, maintain six feet of distance from others, wash hands frequently, stay home when sick and cover coughs with a tissue, fabric or elbow.
