Santa Cruz Flea Market: A Treasure Trove of Weird and Remarkable Stuff
The Flea Market at the Skyview Drive-In has been an institution for decades, although it may be forced to relocate to Watsonville.
One man's junk is another's treasure – and no where is that more obvious than the Santa Cruz Flea Market.
If it moves to Watsonville because of planned construction on the site, many say it will be one of the worst days this city has ever had. Its central location now brings in people from all over the county, as well as from San Jose and Salinas.
There were great stories in the things and the people buying them Sunday from 7 a.m. until noon.

It's also got some of the best bargains anywhere. My day's spending included: $2 for garden gloves; $80 for new LED headlights, installed; $2 for two plants and a blue pot to put them in; $4.50 for Mexican wedding cookies; $6.00 for a week's worth or oranges and grapes; $3 for a big tube of Nivea body wash.
Other than the cookies, this wa at least s half what I'd pay anywhere else. And I got to practice Spanish all day: priceless. It felt like I visited several countries in the course of one giant walk through the maze of vendors.
