SEE: Shark Bites Paddle Board; Closes Santa Cruz County Beaches

The shark bit a paddle boarder's board Friday, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office said.

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — Beaches from Capitols to Sunny Cove are closed after a shark attack Friday, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office said.

The paddle boarder was near 38th Avenue when a shark bit his board. The boarder was not injured, but the shark came close to biting him.

The diameter of the bite on his board was nearly 11 inches, according to photos posted by the sheriff's office.
