Shot Fired During Attempted Robbery, Santa Cruz Police Say
Police found an unregistered gun and lots of cannabis on scene. Ryan Mcauliffe and Dillon Alan Mahoney of Pacifica were later arrested.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — Two Pacifica men were arrested early Tuesday morning after Santa Cruz Police Department officers saw a confrontation between three people that ended in a shot fired and one person fleeing the scene, police say. Officers later determined that nobody was hurt, but an attempted robbery had taken place and a lot of cannabis was found, police say.
Ryan Mcauliffe, 26, fled the scene, but was later arrested on suspicion of charges related to attempted robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, possessing cannabis for sale, possessing of large-capacity magazines and being a felon in possession of a gun, police say. Dillon Alan Mahoney, 22, was arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis for sale, possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.
Neither had been released as of noon Tuesday.

Police were patrolling near Mike Fox Park and 225 San Lorenzo Blvd. around 1 a.m. Tuesday morning when the incident took place, police say. Officers found an unregistered, loaded handgun on scene, plus a lot of cannabis, more unregistered gun components, and large-capacity rifle and pistol magazines in an associated car.
