All are welcome to see Christine Suarez’ work in progress presentation of dance and movement created during her Studio Residency. She is working on a project based on the biblical Book of Ruth, part of a commission from the Bronx-based organization Spark and Echo Arts (sparkandecho.org). Joining her in this project are dance artists Carol McDowell and Rebeca Hernandez. Themes they have been developing through movement center on relationships between women during bereavement, displacement, and within the bonds of friendship and family.

Parking is around the corner at Structure 6 on 2nd, $4 for 3.5 hours.

Christine Suarez is a Santa M...onica-based choreographer, performer, educator, feminist and community activist. Born in Caracas, Venezuela and raised in Baton Rouge Louisiana, she made her first works of choreography in her parents’ backyard to the Grease soundtrack. Since then she has created thirteen evening-length dance-theater works, numerous site-specific events and over a dozen dances for the theater and film. Christine is invigorated by making dances in unexpected places with unexpected people about unexpected subjects. suarezdance.org
