3 Easy Ways to Make Your New Year Resolutions Stick!

Here are 3 Easy Ways to Make sure 2016 is a Personal and Professional Success!

The New Year is a time for new beginnings. It gives hope that the upcoming year will be better than the year before. It’s also when many people with good intentions make resolutions that unfortunately are discarded by as early as Jan.21st (StatisticBrain.com). These goals can be anything from losing those last 5 lbs. to finding a new job.

Here are 3 Easy Ways to Make sure 2016 is a Personal and Professional Success!

1) Figure out Your big “WHY”?
It is not good enough to say “I want to lose 5 lbs”. WHY do you want to lose those pounds? To look great in a bikini for my Mexican Vacation? To have more energy for my kids? If I have more energy for my kids, what will that give me? Take it one or two steps further to find your true WHY…in other words… what will you truly “gain” by “losing” the weight?

Take this WHY and write it down. Keep it somewhere where you can look at it once in the morning and throughout your day or whenever you are feeling unmotivated or discouraged. You can even start off your day by writing your big “WHY” out 30-50 times to create subconscious reinforcement. This is especially helpful when you are feeling unmotivated or discouraged.

2) Plan Ahead and Be Specific
It is not good enough to say “I want to lose 5lbs.”A more successful approach would be to say “I want to lose 5lbs. by March 31st”. First, ask yourself “Is this is a realistic & achievable”? It is always better to surpass your goal then to fall short. Then, figure out how you will do this. Will you go the gym 3 times a week? If so, which days? Will you hire a trainer? Will you cut out sugar? YOU NEED A PLAN.

3) Accountability
Find someone or some way of holding yourself accountable. Will you tell a good friend? Your Family? Or will you post it to Facebook? Just make sure whomever it is will you give you the encouragement you need and not make you feel bad when you get off track. To avoid this, it is helpful to discuss and come to an agreement ahead of time of how they can best support you.

In the end keeping resolutions are never easy…if it is…you would have done it already! As long as you keep these tips in mind, you will succeed! Plus, look how good you look in that bikini!!!!
