Buttons fall off. Socks get holes in them. Pants are too long. Get your March mending on and save hundreds in basic tailoring costs by learning how to do these minor repairs yourself. Avoid having to wait for days while a tailor makes alterations when you can do just as well in minutes. Learn both traditional techniques, and the current trend in visible mending (both methods can be used on all fabrics). Class includes pointers on general mending. Learn differences in finishes and how to achieve the look you want. Amy will share her knowledge of the many online mending-focused communities and how you can take part. ...Feel free to bring an item needing mending to get tips.

Amy Bauer is an artist, seamstress, educator, and curator. She holds degrees in Design, Fine Arts, and Educational Technology. She attended Arts for LA’s inaugural ACTIVATE Arts Advocacy Leadership program during 2014 and 2015. Her work has been displayed in magazines, newspapers, private and public collections, and websites. In her work, she explores environmental themes, and ties them into an investigation of the likenesses and frictions between her urban life and her folk art aesthetic. Much of her art is meant to deteriorate over time, placing it into the category of memento mori art. She has exhibited her work throughout the US, Canada, and England since 2001.
