The Benefits of STEAM Education

Ever wonder what STEAM education has to offer?

Lately there has been a lot of talk about something called STEAM Education. What is STEAM and why is it important?

STEAM is short for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. The idea is that all of these areas of study are important for creating a well-rounded and flexible education. Because the world is always changing, STEAM programs aim to not only educate, but prepare students for anything that lies ahead.

School isn’t supposed to be something to endure, rather, it should be something to inspire. STEAM makes a school environment fun and creative, while teaching students to collaborate and problem-solve. Today’s world needs innovators; people who have the education and passion to make a difference.

STEAM provides an all-encompassing program. When it comes to finding or creating a job, nearly all of them fall under one or more of the categories in STEAM. This educational foundation will allow students to discover their passion and pursue it confidently. It’s very exciting to see kids launch their interests using this program.

At Delphi Academy of Santa Monica, STEAM is something we understand and utilize. Our program is able to adapt to all students and interests while still emphasizing critical subjects. This is the true beauty of our school. We strive to create leaders that understand the world around them and change it for the better, and STEAM helps us do just that.

STEAM also helps students to think in different ways. They will ask how something works, and come up with different problem-solving techniques. These unique skills will help create a well rounded individual. STEAM isn’t just necessary for those looking for a career in the field, but for anyone! It encourages exploration, curiosity and collaboration. It will help any student.

Headmaster Ellen Garrison spoke briefly about STEAM at Delphi Academy, saying, “Being a proficiency-based school, the STEAM program dovetails perfectly with our approach.”

We’re very proud to say that STEAM is part of our approach. If you would like to see how we incorporate it into our school program, come visit our campus. Call us at (310)-526-2700 or visit our website at delphisantamonica.org.
