Demonstrating its deepening roots in Los Angeles and commitment to community service, Conway MacKenzie is partnering with local youth education nonprofit Minds Matter LA as a corporate sponsor, lending critical support to the organization’s upcoming Spring Benefit.

Minds Matter LA is the Los Angeles chapter of Minds Matter, Inc., a nationally renowned mentoring and college prep program for underprivileged but academically ambitious youth. Through weekly tutoring programs in math, English and standardized testing, as well as intensive college counseling, the organization has put thousands of underprivileged children on a path toward four-year college educations.

The 5th Annual Spring Benefit, to take place Thursday, April 30, is a celebration of this year’s graduating senior class, and an opportunity for Minds Matter LA’s supporters to honor their remarkable accomplishments in the classroom.

The Conway MacKenzie sponsorship is a collaboration between the firm and Los Angeles-based managing director Matt Covington, who has been supporting Minds Matter for more than 15 years and helped to launch the LA chapter five years ago.

“I have been involved with Minds Matter for a long time, and there is no organization like it in terms of delivering results,” Covington said. “As a direct result of Minds Matter, thousands of bright kids from disadvantaged backgrounds have gone to college. These are kids who might otherwise have slipped through the cracks. I am honored to be able to continue supporting the Los Angeles chapter as it continues its tremendous success.”

In recent years, Minds Matter LA has guided students living under extremely difficult circumstances toward inspiring successes, matriculating at colleges such as MIT, Princeton, Stanford, Brown University, University of Pennsylvania, UC Berkeley, UCLA and many others. Nationwide, 100 percent of graduates of the program have gone on to four-year colleges. Conway MacKenzie’s sponsorship promises to help Minds Matter LA build on its success.

“We are incredibly grateful for Conway MacKenzie’s support, and for Matt Covington’s long-standing commitment to our organization,” said Tina Admans, president of Minds Matter LA. “Matt was instrumental to the founding of our LA chapter, and we are delighted about the opportunity to continue working with him toward connecting LA’s underprivileged youth with the educational opportunities they deserve.”
