Get ready for the upcoming holidays with a cooking demonstration by cookbook author Amelia Saltsman at the Westlake Culinary Institute in Westlake Village, Calif., on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 12 p.m. She’ll demonstrate four easy, holiday-ready recipes from her new book, The Seasonal Jewish Kitchen: A Fresh Take on Tradition (Sterling Epicure):

• Best Potato Latkes with Roasted Smashed Apples and Pears
• Yemenite Pumpkin and Carrot Soup with Cilantro Pesto
• Chicken with Silan, Green Olives, and Harissa
• Silan and Tahini Sundaes
  

In The Seasonal Jewish Kitchen, Saltsman traces the delicious thread of Jewish cuisine from its ancient roots to today’s focus on seasonality and sustainability. She draws on her own rich food history in a warmly personal cookbook filled with soul- satisfying spins on beloved classics and bold new dishes.

The cooking demonstration costs $40 per person, including samples and a signed copy of The Seasonal Jewish Kitchen.
