Hearing Continues For Santa Monica Woman Charged In Murder, Arson
Victoria Renae Darlington, who is charged with murdering her 93-year-old great-grandmother in Santa Monica, was in court Monday.
SANTA MONICA, CA —Court proceedings continued Monday for Victoria Renae Darlington, who is charged with murdering her 93-year-old great-grandmother in Santa Monica.
In April 2018, Darlington was taken into custody on suspicion of murder and arson, Santa Monica Police reported. Darlington was 26 years old at the time.
Santa Monica firefighters responded to a structure fire at a single-family home in the 2600 block of 31st Street on April 30, 2018, according to police. Authorities reportedly found Darlington's great-grandmother Geraldine Darlington unconscious at the home, according to Santa Monica Daily Press. She was taken to a hospital, where she died from her injuries, according to police.

Evidence and information gathered from a preliminary investigation by SMPD and SMFD Arson Investigators indicated the fire was intentionally ignited, and Darlington was identified as a primary suspect. She was located and taken into custody in Riverside by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, according to SMPD.
Darlington was charged with murder and arson to an inhabited structure. And in 2018, her bail was set at $2 million pending future court proceedings, police said.
