Jumper Snarls 10 Freeway In Santa Monica

A man threatened to jump from an overhang above the Santa Monica (10) Freeway Saturday, backing up traffic for hours.

SANTA MONICA, CA — Traffic was moving at a snail's pace Saturday in Santa Monica due to a man hanging in what appears to be a fence over the Santa Monica (10) Freeway threatening to jump.

An airbag has been deployed, blocking all lanes of the westbound freeway at Lincoln Boulevard, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The CHP was notified of the possible jumper at 11:02 a.m. and then closed all lanes of westbound traffic at 11:07 a.m. for initially 30 minutes, before extended it for an unknown duration.
