New speech and language clinic offers unique services

Serving children and adults with genetic syndromes, cerebral palsy, ALS, developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and more

Language and Learning Centers of Los Angeles (LLCLA), a private clinic for speech and language therapy, recently opened and is now accepting patients. LLCLA serves children and adults with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, genetic syndromes, cerebral palsy, ALS, and more.

LLCLA specializes in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and provides support for obtaining AAC systems and services through health insurance.

Meghan O’Brien, the Regional Director of LLCLA, previously served as lead AAC Consultant for the LA Unified School District and speech-language pathologist at the Boston Children’s Hospital Augmentative Communication Program. LLCLA’s Chief Clinical Consultant is Dr. Howard Shane of Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard University.

The clinic operates a nonprofit, the Language and Learning Centers of America Foundation, which conducts research to help advance treatment for autism and other developmental disabilities. The Foundation provides assistance for purchasing devices, as well as transportation to treatment sessions for families who require assistance. The Foundation also develops applications and other instructional tools and studies their effectiveness.
