Revelers of all ages can count down the New Year – and new decade – in a chill-lax style at the beach and at one of the most iconic sites in Los Angeles, the Pacific Wheel Ferris wheel at Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier. Using a variety of colors and patterns from 174,000 LED lights, the Ferris wheel will present a numerical 60-second countdown, a “Happy New Year!” horizontal crawl, an oversized “2020,” and display “Happy New Year” in more than 12 languages following the countdown including Spanish, Korean, Farsi, German, French, and Japanese. The traditional, annual West Coast countdown occurs at the most Instagrammed location in Los Angeles.

“Nowhere else in America can you have the sand and sea at your feet or fly 130-feet above the Pacific Ocean to ring in the New Year,” said Nathan Smithson, Director of Marketing and Business Development at Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier.

If guests can’t make it out to the beach to see the countdown on the Ferris wheel, they can watch the New Year’s Eve lighting spectacular on Pacific Park’s live-streaming webcams at www.pacpark.com/live.
