Preferential Parking Enforcement Resumes In Santa Monica
City officials announced Monday morning that parking enforcement would resume in Santa Monica.

SANTA MONICA, CA — The City of Santa Monica reminded residents on social media Monday that local emergency orders and a residential eviction moratorium were extended, but preferential parking enforcement was still set to resume Monday in all zones.
Street sweeping was also slated to continue Monday and Friday.
Parking enforcement was first suspended in late March when the city's first coronavirus emergency order came down. In late December, officials announced the local emergency order was yet again extended to Jan. 31 and that the eviction moratorium was extended to March 31.

But the case load has doubled in the past month.
"Our deepest condolences go out to the many families mourning a loved one who passed away from COVID-19 and you remain in our thoughts as we begin this new year," Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer said Saturday.
"The strategy for stopping the surge is fairly straightforward. When people stay away from other people, the virus cannot spread as it is doing now," she said. "The more we stay home and the more we avoid in-person activities with other people we don't live with, the more we reduce the spread of the virus."
The City of Santa Monica has extended local emergency orders to 1/31/21, and the residential eviction moratorium to 3/31/21. Preferential parking enforcement will resume 1/4/21. January street sweeping is 1/4/21 - 1/8/21.
