Santa Monica Lifeguards to Be Saluted at July 4 Parade

The fifth annual parade's theme will be "Fourth of July at the Beach."

Lifeguards in Santa Monica will be honored at this year's July 4 parade, which will place on Main St. Now in its fifth year, the parade's theme will be "Fourth of July at the Beach."

Starting at 9:30 a.m., the parade will proceed from the front of the down Main St., to the Santa Monica/ Venice border.

Santa Monica Ocean Lifeguards will serve as the Grand Marshals. They include Captain Angus Alexander, who has been a local lifeguard for 31 years and is a founding member of .

The event is presented by the Ocean Park Association. Applications, guidelines and waivers for parade marchers will be available beginning June 1 on OPA-SM.org/Parade.
