Santa Monica’s Pedestrian Action Plan Seeks Online Feedback

The city's virtual town hall updates weekly questions and offers prizes for winning answers.

The city’s ongoing efforts to improve walking facilities and programs through an online forum asks, “What pedestrian feature would most help Santa Monica commercially?”

The weekly questions encourage residents to share their thoughts and potentially win prizes. Once users create an account, they can share photos and let their ideas flow on various polls and discussion topics. Widgets allow for more connection by sharing on social media accounts such as Facebook, Google Plus and Linked In.

Last week’s winner, Paula Fern, won a $5 gift card for answering how to get the community engaged in improving pedestrian safety. User input for the Action Plan will help current improvements, but also helps plan for future needs resulting from the construction of three Expo light rail stations scheduled for 2016.
