SHINE Storytelling: "Lost"

On Sunday, June 14 at 7:00pm at The Promenade Playhouse in Santa Monica, SHINE storytellers share their true tales of being "Lost."

SHINE is a popular storytelling series known for its relaxed community atmosphere, powerful and entertaining stories, and live music. The event features experienced and new storytellers coming together monthly to share inspiring true stories.

Storytellers this month include a nationally recognized magician, a creative executive who applies storytelling to business, an Emmy-Award nominated writer and producer, a graduate student, and a creative couple who were founding members of the comedy theatre, The Groundlings.

In June, SHINE will be hosted by Isabel Storey, the event’s co-founder and producer. Her company, Storey Productions, specializes in producing meaningful new works and events for the stage. She has produced world premiere plays at venues throughout Los Angeles and New York. She is also past Producing Director and Managing Director of Ensemble Studio Theatre-LA and Vice Chair of the Alliance of Los Angeles Playwrights. In television, Isabel has written and produced for CBS, ABC, Lifetime and KCET.

Live music will be provided by Misty Rosas and her band. Misty is a Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter known for her energetic, emotional style. Her songs deal with living out one’s dreams in the midst of self-doubt, loss of love and finding inner strength. As an actress, dancer, yoga teacher, and professional stuntwoman, she is used to stretching her limits. Misty will sing her award-winning “Panic Button,” a song that openly discusses her personal struggles. Misty, along with her band and dancers, can also be heard performing live around Los Angeles and her
songs will soon be available on iTunes.

Professional storytellers for SHINE are chosen from some of the nation’s top award-winning storytellers and writers. Amateur storytellers of all ages and walks of life also take the stage. Six storytellers are booked in advance, and one is chosen from the audience in a random drawing.
