Thousands of people protested in Santa Monica and Venice Friday.
SANTA MONICA, CA — Thousands of people protested across Santa Monica and Venice Friday from morning until evening.
Friday afternoon a group marched along Wilshire Boulevard toward the water and Main Street. A group of surfers met up to paddle out and honor Floyd with a ceremony at the Inkwell.
Friday morning hundreds lined up along the shore to honor George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and the ongoing fight for justice in response to police brutality and racism in the U.S.

At a student-organized protest Friday afternoon at City Hall, people took a knee to recognize Taylor, Floyd and other lives lost to violence. City leaders met them there.
No reports of violence or confrontations with police were reported as of Friday afternoon.
