Unseen Santa Monica Digital Plein Air Photography

Street photographer Benjamin Simpson leads a free Palisades Park walk where participants are encouraged to bring their smartphone.

Class #2700.236: Saturday 8/15, 1-4pm

Cost: free!

In conjunction with the ‘Unseen’ Gallery exhibit at the Annenberg Community Beach House, street photographer Benjamin Simpson leads a free Palisades Park walk where participants are encouraged to bring their smartphone/digital cameras and take pictures together, then discuss, critique, and edit and print (time allowing) inside the Camera Obscura building. The theme of the walk is capturing liminal moments - crossing threshholds of unnoticed glances, gestures, spaces and time. If you can, bring any cables/adapters you have for computer hookup, and wear walking shoes and sun protection.

Photographer Benjamin Simpson loves to walk the streets of the sprawling me...tropolis that is LA, watching the people, noticing detail and collecting it all in split second moments. Visit hodomania.com, instagram: bs_hodomania.

‘Unseen’ (May 22-September 8) showcases the photographic work of five emerging Los Angeles-based artists. Their distinctive stories converge at in-between moments. Each photographer reveals an element of the unseen: Ruben A Diaz-Cifuentes peeps into the mystical workplace of showgirls during vacant hours. Bonnie Ebner explores symbolic gestures in otherwise overlooked moments. Junko Inoue seeks the intersection where the city’s inhabitants and architecture seamlessly become one. Myrna Reyes creates an ode to bygone eras. Benjamin Simpson captures unsuspecting subjects singled out from the crowd.

Parking is around the corner at Structure 6 on 2nd, $4 for 3.5 hours.
