Learn how to carve a small woodcut and create texture & tone variation in your one-color prints. No experience necessary, returning woodcutters welcome! Material fee covers use of tools and one high-quality wood block. If you are interested in two color printing you can explore a reduction method by taking her next woodcut class on June 4, or come back to any of our weekly Printmaking Labs to make prints from your block.

Patricia R. Mitchell just finished a Studio Residency here at the Camera, creating prints on fabric and paper. Mitchell is a visual artist living and working in downtown Los Angeles. She has been making art for over 20 years and was a printer at Gemini G.E.L. where she worked with artists such as Roy Lichtenstein, Elizabeth Murray and Richard Sera. She was also a professor at Kendall College of Art and Design where she taught and ran the Fine Art Printmaking department. In addition to her studio practice she makes props for motion pictures and television.www.patriciarmitchell.com

Parking and Transport: Parking is $1 for first 2.5 hours in Parking Structure 6 (2nd between Broadway and Santa Monica), each 30 min. thereafter $1.50, max $14. Call 310-458-2239 to confirm availability, preferably by the Tuesday before class starts; plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of class; many classes do not allow drop ins.

Refunds/Transfers: Full refunds are given if class is cancelled before taking place - enroll online with confidence. For student withdrawals for any other reason, $15 processing fee for each multisession activity refunded; one-time classes & expended material fees are nonrefundable.
