2 Sentenced For Murdering Man in Craigslist Marijuana Deal Gone Bad

The duo pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the 2014 death of John Francis in El Cajon.

EL CAJON, CA: Two men who admitted involvement in the fatal shooting of a man during a marijuana-related robbery in an El Cajon apartment were each sentenced Friday to life terms in prison.

Paul Julian Sosa III and Homero Viscarroa Palomino each pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the Sept. 18, 2014 death of 38-year-old John Francis.

Deputy District Attorney Valerie Ryan said the three men connected on Craigslist regarding the sale of marijuana by Francis.

Sosa, 20, and Palomino, 19, were allowed into the apartment by Francis, who was shot once in the back, and the defendants got away with the marijuana.

Sosa, who the prosecutor said was the gunman, was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.
