• Ladies At The Lake Fall Market Marks 10 Years At Santee Lakes (patch.com) — Santee residents can look forward to the 10th annual Ladies at the Lake Fall Market at Santee Lakes, featuring more than 130 mostly women-owned vendors. The free-admission event on Oct. 10 will offer handmade goods, holiday items, food trucks, a drink lounge, and commemorative tote bags for the first 100 vehicles, with a $10 parking fee at the preserve.
   

• Man Accused Of Murdering Grandfather At Santee Home: Sheriff's Office (patch.com) — A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering his grandfather inside a Santee home on Grand Fork Drive, but deputies say there's no ongoing threat to the community. Investigators are still working to determine what led to the deadly assault and are asking anyone with information to contact the sheriff's Homicide Unit or Crime Stoppers.
   

• Newsom Signs Bill Expanding Mental Health Options For Veterans (patch.com) — Santee readers are represented in a new California law funding psychedelic therapy research for veterans, championed by local Sen. Brian Jones. The measure folds his earlier bill into the state budget, directing $4.7 million toward exploring emerging treatments for PTSD and other mental health challenges facing veterans across the state.
