On February 16, middle school students ranging from 6th through 8th grade will be participating in our first Health and Fitness Faire as part of the . Sports professionals, district staff, and community members will be hosting stations that range from soccer skills to nutritional information to arm our students with the best information on how to make healthy decisions throughout their life.
For the past four weeks, students have been working on documenting at least 60 minutes of activity each day to encourage healthy lifestyles. This can come in the form of running the mile, attending baseball practice, walking the dog, or going to the gym. The NFL Play 60 Challenge adds spirit and life incentives to the challenge. At the end of our month focus, 18 lucky students will be selected to participate in a Junior Chargers Camp which features our own San Diego Charger players.

We began our active lifestyle challenge three weeks ago and will be concluding our challenge with the Faire to be held from 12:30-2:15 p.m. this Thursday. Each class of students will move through one station that provides inspiration, one station that highlights nutritional learning, and one station that focuses on the physical component of a healthy lifestyle.
Vencie Glenn, former Charger player, trainers from Chuze Fitness, players from the San Diego Sockers, and our Santee School District nurse, Michelle Thompson, are some of our station hosts.
