Several Fires Spark In Lakeside, Sending Smoke Over East County
The spot fires, called the Ashwood Fire, burned about 2 acres.

LAKESIDE, CA – As many as four spot fires sparked Wednesday morning in Lakeside, sending smoke into the air in San Diego's East County.
The blazes broke out around 10 a.m. along Ashwood Street between Mapleview Street and Willow Road, according to Cal Fire. The fires, dubbed the Ashwood Fire, burned about 2 acres.
Crews halted forward progress of the flames within an hour. Firefighters remained on scene until the fires were fully contained by 1:45 p.m.

It was not immediately clear what sparked the fires, which posed no structural threats and necessitated no evacuations.
