Brush Fire Threatens Structures In Rancho San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CA — A brush fire sparked Wednesday that threatened structures in Rancho San Diego.

The blaze, called the Campo Fire, burned about 15 acres near Campo and Jamacha roads, according to Cal Fire San Diego and SoCal Air Operations.

The fast-moving fire burned near homes along Avenida Roberta and Calle Los Arboles, Cal Fire said.

Authorities advised residents who felt threatened by the fire to evacuate as a precaution.

"If you live near Avenida Roberta and Calle Los Arboles, be ready to evacuate if you feel you are in danger," the San Diego County Sheriff's Department said on Twitter.

A temporary evacuation point was established at the Regal Edwards Rancho San Diego parking lot at 2951 Jamacha Road in El Cajon.

Avenida Roberta was closed between Del Rio Road and Calle Los Arboles due to the fire. Authorities advised motorists to drive slowly and watch out for first responders and fire equipment in the area.

There were no immediate reports of structural damage or injuries.
