Cheapest Gas in Town: Hitting Highs Again

Looking to save a few bucks this week? Why not start with the gas for your vehicle.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gas in San Diego County hit the highest amount since mid-October 2008 on Thursday, at $3.37.

The two stations currently selling the cheapest gas in Santee are listed below. Local prices are according to GasBuddy.com and reflect prices within the last 24 hours.

County gas price average: $3.37, +2.3 cents from last week

State average: $3.39

National average: $3.12

The average price is 2.3 cents more than a week ago, 1.9 cent higher
than one month ago and 37.4 cents above what it was one year ago, according to
figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

"We've been having essentially flat gasoline prices for the previous two weeks,'' she said. "A couple of pennies up is definitely not a spike. We can't really even say it's the end of a plateau until we see what goes on in the next few days," said Marie Montgomery of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
