Councilman John Ryan Denies Any Connection to Power Plant

John Ryan: "I am against this power plant for the same reasons the rest of you are."

A written by was posted to Santee Patch last week that showed evidence that Hal Ryan, former Santee City Councilmember and brother of current Councilmember , is in control of a trust that has an agreement with Cogentrix to use their land for "temporary construction parking" during the construction of the Quail Brush Power Plant.

Spencer asked a few questions in that letter, a few of which John Ryan addressed in a comment on the post.

Is it possible that John Ryan did NOT know that his brother was a part of this deal with Cogentrix?  Did any of the other current City Councilmen know about it?

Councilman Ryan responded to the letter in

Joe, do something constructive, you are causing me to waste my time with your nonsence. Like I have any control in what Davidson, my brother or you for that matter do. Ask for some overtime at work?

Everyone, FYI: I have received no money from Davidson Trust, SDG&E, or Cogentrix. I have invested in this community the same way as most of you have. I am against this power plant for the same reasons the rest of you are. Yes I own a home and live in Santee.

I am not and have never been involved with Davidson. I have no control or knowledge of Davidson operations on ANY level.

John Ryan
Santee Councilmember

Councilmember Ryan had previously stated and voted his opposition to the power plant at the March 28 City Council meeting.

"This is the first time I can recall in 27 years living in Santee that no one can be found that's in favor of a project," said Councilmember Ryan.
