Curfew Extended In Santee As Protests Continue Across County

SANTEE, CA β€” For a third night, the city of Santee extended a citywide curfew Tuesday as protests and riots continue in San Diego County. The curfew order will be in effect from 7 p.m. Tuesday until 6 a.m. Wednesday.

The city also imposed a curfew Sunday and Monday nights.

"For the past two evenings, large gatherings have occurred in the city of Santee, which have created threats to public safety and property and are in violation of current public health orders," the city said in a statement.

"Based on credible information, the city believes these large gatherings could occur again tonight. The extension of a curfew will help in keeping the community of Santee safe while protecting our residents and local businesses."

People should not be out on public streets, city officials said. Only people traveling to and from work, seeking medical care or experiencing an emergency situation are exempt from the curfew.
