Santee, CA — Polling shows Stephen Houlahan has pulled ahead in the Santee City Council race. Developers, in a late desperation ploy, have mailed a hit piece targeting Stephen Houlahan. Developers are hoping to reverse the Houlahan surge back toward their developer darlings.

Ironically, this will be the only voter mailing sent out focused solely on Stephen Houlahan, who has run a door-to-door grass roots campaign without sending a feature mailer. Although Houlahan leads, he has been out spent by at least 7:1.
The desperate developer mailing originates from a shady PAC with a PO Box in Vista and claims to be a coalition of taxpayers. The hit piece claims Houlahan has not disclosed his financial interests and is under investigation by the FPPC.

That fact is Houlahan has fully disclosed his source of income (Sharp Healthcare) on Schedule C, Form 700 as required. Houlahan has no other reportable business assets to claim and nothing to hide. The complaint was originated by someone notorious for filing complaints without merit against against political opponents.
The fact is Stephen Houlahan has fully disclosed his assets and those assets show that Houlahan (unlike his opponents that are aligned with the growth industry) will not be seeking to profit by leveraging the office of a Santee City Council member.
Preserve Wild Santee urges Santee voters not to fall for this late desperation hit piece that hopes to confuse enough voters to let a developers’ darling come from behind. Santee’s quality-of-life is at stake. Stephen Houlahan is the only candidate refusing to accept developer dollars and has 76% of his contributions from Santee residents.
