Fire Burns Half-Acre Of Brush In Lakeside

The fire was reported off state Route 67 about a mile north of Slaughterhouse Canyon Road, according to Cal Fire San Diego.

LAKESIDE, CA — A blaze burned roughly a half-acre of vegetation in a remote area north of Lakeside Friday morning before crews were able to get a handle on the flames.

The fire was reported around 4:15 a.m. off state Route 67 about a mile north of Slaughterhouse Canyon Road, according to Cal Fire San Diego.

Within 10 minutes the blaze had grown to about a half-acre, but crews were able to halt the forward rate of spread by 4:35 a.m., the state agency reported.
