
SANTEE, CA β Crews worked to extinguish a house fire late Monday afternoon on Fanita Drive in Santee, according to reports.
The fire broke out shortly after 5:30 p.m. in the 8200 block of Fanita Drive β near Fanita Rancho Road and the interchange of state Routes 52 and 125 β according to Heartland Fire & Rescue.
CBS8 reported that at least six fire engines responded to the blaze that appeared to have gutted at least a portion of the home. But firefighters stopped the flames from spreading to a nearby home to the south, the news station reported.

According to an NBC San Diego reporter, a cat was saved from the fire but another cat was still missing.

It took crews about a half-hour to subdue the intense flames, a dispatcher said.

It was not immediately clear what sparked the fire.
Patch was not able to reach the Santee Fire Department Monday evening for more information.
