The city of Santee is seeking citizens interested in serving on a city board, commission or committee in the New Year.
Interested residents can apply to the following committees:

- Community Oriented Policing Committee: Formed in 1996, this committee makes recommendations regarding the city's Community Oriented Policing Program. These may include recommendations regarding crime prevention, drug awareness, education programs, neighborhood watch programs, law enforcement staffing and other issues regarding the city's overall policing effort. Meetings are held the second Monday of each month.
- Library Committee: Formed in 1997, this committee was originally a Library Task Force on the Ad Hoc Town Center Development Committee. Meetings are held on an as-needed basis.
- Salary Setting Advisory Committee: Formed in 2009, this committee makes recommendations to the council regarding the appropriate level of salary and benefits for the mayor and the council. Meetings are held on an as-needed basis.
- Santee Manufactured Home Fair Practices Commission: Along with city staff, this commission seeks to prevent excess increases of manufactured home space rents to park residents while providing a fair rate of return to manufactured home park owners. Meetings are held on the third Thursday of March, June, and September and the second Thursday of December.
- Santee Park and Recreation Committee: Formed in 1981, this committee acts in an advisory capacity to the council on matters pertaining to municipal parks and recreation programs in the city of Santee. Meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month.
Most positions require applicants live in Santee. Applications are available online on the city's website.
