Man Stabbed In Fletcher Hills Strip-Mall Lot

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA – A fight between two men in a parking lot at a Fletcher Hills strip mall escalated Tuesday into a stabbing that sent one of them to a hospital, authorities reported.

The assault in the 2800 block of Navajo Road was reported shortly after 1:30 p.m., according to El Cajon police.

Medics took the victim, whose identity was not released, to a trauma center for treatment of wounds of undisclosed severity, Lt. Rob Ransweiler said.

The attacker, meanwhile, fled to the west past state Route 125 and into the city of San Diego. Officers fanned out through the area in search of him with help from an SDPD helicopter crew, the lieutenant said.

The assailant remained at large as of late afternoon.

Gage Elementary School on Bisby Lake Avenue, about a mile from the site of the stabbing, was placed on lockdown for a time as a precaution.
