Motorcyclist Who Crashed into Trolley in Santee Is Ordered to Stand Trial

A motorcyclist who collided with a trolley in Santee while allegedly trying to outrace a sheriff's deputy was ordered today to stand trial on a felony charge of evading police with reckless driving.

Francisco Rogelio Roblero, 38, of Whittier, faces three years in state prison if convicted, according to prosecutors.

Roblero was admitted into the hospital following the March 22 crash, then later booked into jail, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies tried to pull over Roblero on westbound Mission Gorge Road for a traffic violation around 5 p.m., sheriff's Sgt. Dave Martinez said.

"(He) sped away, and then crashed into a SDMTS (San Diego Metropolitan Trolley System) Trolley on the green line at the intersection of Mission Gorge Road and Cuyamaca Street," Martinez said.

No one else was injured.

Following today's preliminary hearing at the El Cajon Courthouse, Judge John Thompson found that enough evidence was presented for Roblero to proceed to trial June 16. A readiness conference was set for June 2.
